About the project
For several years now, the community board has been searching for a property or land that will fully meet the needs of our existing and potential members. After intensive work by the executive board, and with the clear approval of the community assembly, the Bosniak Community Rosenheim has the opportunity to purchase land with a building in the center of Rosenheim. Support the “Bosniak Community Rosenheim” in this multi-generational solution for the needs of the Muslims in Rosenheim. With your support, the community will continue to create an atmosphere where Muslims can preserve their religious and national identity through religious, cultural, and social activities. Information about the current status of the congregation and the need for new premises The current population of congregants who regularly participate in the daily activities of our congregation is steadily increasing. Approximately 150 worshippers gather for the Friday prayer (Jumu’ah), and the capacity of the premises no longer meets the needs of those present – a large number of worshippers pray outside the space. Friday prayers are scheduled at a time that allows working individuals to attend. Over 500 worshippers regularly gather for Eid prayers, further confirming the need to expand capacity. Also, there is a noticeable increase in attendance for daily prayers, especially on weekends and holidays when people do not work. Within religious education, the congregation offers Quran study circles, learning of the Quranic script (sufara), and tajweed. Monthly lectures are held, as well as mekteb classes with over 100 children. The community has great potential, as there are currently over 100 children aged 1 to 5 years within the congregation. Our congregation, located in Rosenheim, is the southernmost Bosniak congregation in Germany. It covers three regions: Landkreis Rosenheim, Landkreis Ebersberg, and parts of Landkreis Traunstein, with a total of 365 registered members. This number is continuously growing, as many Bosniak families move from northern parts of Germany to the south – closer to their homeland Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as newcomers from Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is especially significant that the land we wish to purchase is located in the very center of Rosenheim city, near the train station, enabling easy access for our members. About 60% of the members live in the city and in close proximity to the mosque, while others come from distances of 20 to 30 kilometers, as there are no mosques or organized religious life in their areas. The majority of congregation members originate from Bosnia and Herzegovina and follow the Hanafi madhhab, as do most Bosniaks. At the same time, our congregation respects and recognizes other madhhabs, fostering a spirit of respect, unity, and mutual appreciation among all Muslims. Our imam, Sadzid Jusić, has led the Rosenheim congregation for four years (since 2021). He graduated from Behram-begova Medresa in Tuzla in 2012, then the Faculty of Islamic Sciences in Sarajevo in 2017, and later enrolled in postgraduate studies in Islamic history at Sakarya University in Turkey. During his studies, he was active as an imam in Sarajevo (Karaferhatova Mosque, Bistrik), in Cerik near Tuzla during Ramadan, and in Ramadan 2015 served as an imam in Minneapolis (USA). He also visits the Paderborn congregation (Germany) several times and participates as an imam in all congregational activities. He also participated in the Erasmus+ program in Jerusalem, where he gained valuable experiences and became acquainted with the historical significance of the holy city. Our congregation gladly hosts travelers, lecturers, professors, and travelers. Among the distinguished guests who have left a strong impact on our community are: • Abdullah ef. Hodžić – graduate of Al-Azhar University, former ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina to Pakistan, recognized for his knowledge, humility, and breadth of knowledge. • Hafiz Amir ef. Hodžić – graduate of Medina University, professor at Behram-begova Medresa in Tuzla, frequently a lecturer and guest. • Hafiz Dr. Omar Nuhić – known for his engagement in halal nutrition and healthy living, whose talks and advice have great educational and health significance. • Hamza Ridžal – travel writer who brings inspiring stories from the Islamic world, including the Silk Road and other spiritually significant routes.
